Like all great Kaipiainen art, it has a story attached to it: the sculpture was put together by assistants at the hospital bedside of Kaipiainen, who had broken his leg. Sweden transformed Kaipiainen’s work, adding stronger, more vivid tones to his colour palette and also the influence of mysticism and surreal artists, like Nils von Dardel or Marc Chagall appeared in his motifs.
